We perform two main concerts a year, a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May. Each year has brought us varied opportunities for joint performances and community outreach.

  • Holiday 2007: Timeless Traditions
Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Concord Singers and featuring music spanning seven centuries.

  • Spring 2007: Reflections of Life
Featuring guest artist Caroline Parody, celebrating 10 years with the Concord Singers.

  • Holiday 2006: Music in the Air
Featured the work of American choral masters Z. Randall Stroope and Eleanor Daly, including the New Jersey premiere of Stroope's An American Te Deum.

  • Spring 2006: Uncaged Spirit
Concert with the Apprentice Chorus of the Newark Boys Chorus School.

  • Holiday 2005: A Holiday Fiesta
Featuring Conrad Susa's Christmas in the Southwest, a beautiful collection of carols from Spain, Mexico and the American Southwest, scored for women's voices, guitar, marimba and harp

  • Spring 2005 Concert: Spring Songs and Lullabies
Featuring traditional melodies as well as works by contemporary Spanish composers, the concert featured classical guitarist Loren C. Fortna as our guest artist.

  • Holiday 2004 Concert: Winter’s Light
The concert was performed in conjunction with Summit High School Men’s Ensemble

  • Spring 2004 concert, we presented fifth Choral Arts Award to Kaitlin Shaw, who also performed with us at the concert. We were also joined by a chamber ensemble of local high school students.

Other joint performances highlighted The Newark Boys Chorus School’s Apprentice Chorus, Dance Innovations (Chatham), Cantabile Chamber Chorale (New Brunswick), and The Harmony Singers (Wayne). We were thrilled and honored recently to have had the opportunity to perform with the Maplewood Glee Club and the Summit Symphony.

In celebration of our silver jubilee, we commissioned a piece entitled Draw Her Home with Music by Mark Miller, Composer-in-Residence of the Harmonium Choral Society and Director of Music at Drew Theological School.
Women's Choral Workshop: In alternating years, we sponsor a Women’s Choral Workshop. At past workshops, we have been able to attract such prominent local directors as John Bunnell (an exceptional local voice teacher and choral director), Donald Morris (The Newark Boys School Chorus), and Dr. Anne Matlack (Harmonium Choral Society, Madison). Sharon Morrison, an outstanding mezzo-soprano soloist with the Antioch Vocal Ensemble, a professional a cappella group, directed our most recent workshop.

This year's workshop was conducted by
Noel Werner, Minister of Music at Central Presbyterian Church, Summit.  This biannual event is an opportunity for women singers in the area to learn more about their art. It is always a great chance to meet other singers and to be exposed to new repertoire.
Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
